Why would you want to kill the org?
by what_Truth? ini know that there's a lot of people here who have been deeply hurt by the jehovah's witnesses (i have as well).
i also know that the gb are a bunch of lying bastards.
still i have also met a lot of people who have made their lives much better by becoming jehovah's witnesses.

I think the movie Logan's run applies....
sure they lived a life of blissful ignorance for a while... but it was a prison... and once Logan broke out and
saw reality, he could not help but want to liberate those still ignorant.

Gods and the Trinity
by the_classicist inone of the claims against the trinity that the wtbts makes is that "[s]ince the bible calls humans, angels, even satan, "gods," or powerful ones, the superior jesus in heaven can properly be called "a god.
in the old testament, the hebrew employs elohim to signify what the wt says above.
but it is interesting to note that psalm 82 (81 in the septuagint, and i will be using septuagint numbering from now on), in which the judges of israel are called "gods," is a satire.

while a JW, I came across trinitarians who tossed me for a loop and made me realize that I did not have
enough non-JW understanding of the trinity... so I got a note book and I found over 120 different new test. verses which mention
both father and son and noted their relationship, I highly recommend anyone interested in this debate to do so.
what I found re-inforced my JW beliefs rather than harmed them, and now, 15 years free of both christianity and the BORG, I still
would say, academically that the bible rejects the main tenants of the orthodox version of the trinity which seem to me to be made out of non-jewish christians confusing their pagan world view with jewish concepts
I find the trinity is made only by people OUTSIDE the bible picking pieces which are not IN context and assembling these fragments

Why Do You or Don't You Believe In The Bible?
by minimus indo you believe in the bible just because you were raised to believe?
are you sure it's "believable"?
.....have you convinced yourself the bible is just another book?

I exist, so I am
I am , so I was created << unwarrented conclusion, I am so I have always been (^_^)
I was created, so there is a creator << what I am has always been, it did not create me
If there is a creator, he must talk to us somehow << the idea of a creator is just mythology
If he talks to us somehow, I think the bible would be his word << if he existed and he talked to us he would not need a bible.

one reason I believe many believe the bible to be the word of God is because of an effect I first read about
from Robert Anton Wilson.
he said [paraphrased due to poor memory]: books are mirrors of the soul, no monkey looking in will find a god staring back.
meaning that when you read anyone words, you only read your own experiences. which are triggered by the authors words, not his.
it should seem obvious from the 30,000 plus christian religions that exist from one book that we dont read what the authors intended but what we experience from those words.... and since there is a godlike subconsciousness within us which reads itself into the god role, its not supprizing that we see god

What Love Really Is (or What Is Wrong with JW-type Love)

Zen, I really do understand what you are saying; however, I feel you would enjoy the book too.
Father DiMello's ONE MINUTE WISDOM was one of the first books I read Post JW in 1990...give or take a few years.
Great stuff.

i am currently studying the topic of intelligent design (id).
basically the id theory is the revival of the teleological argument for the existance of a deity.

this notion of a god outside time and space is just an example of magical thinking... you can play any game you wish with
such a god... but it always ends up in silly illogical and irrational notions...
such as this god knows EXACTLY how everything WILL and HAS happened, yet can change anything he wishes...
and so few see how stupid that is.
and this all knowing God is not insane for demanding his creature be exactly what he knew, before he made them, what they would not be?
futher, this God is completely fair, even though the game is obviously rigged from the beginning.
and he loves you even though he always knew you would end up in hell... and he did nothing to change it, because, after all, he did not want to save everyone, but of course he did... but couldn't? because your will over rode his on some occasions, while on others he gave you faith, etc.
its the perfect excuse machine for any con artistry... there is no need for them to prove their god exists, and if you doubt anything they say, no matter how stupid, you are damned to hell for your lack of credulity.... I mean faith.

how about irreducible stupidity?
who designed the human eye backwards?
some animals actually have their optic nerve running into the back of their rods and cones so that photons are unobstructed, yet the human eye has the optic nerve running through the front of each rod making a blurr which needs to be corrected by brain algorhythms...
or how about a type of fly whos offspring begin life by borrowing through her body as their first meal?
or how about a type of insect which buries itself in the ground for seven years, just so it can break free for a couple of DAYS and mate, plant the next generation into the ground and DIE--what genius god thought that one up?
there are many examples of really stupid things in the world like these.

when you pray and your prayer is answered it is Jehovah
and if you prayer is NOT answered, it is Jehovah saying NO.
seems to me that No Jehovah has been required in my life and some of my desires still get fufilled even without me asking anyone at all.
